HELP! Please chance a stressed-out student.

THANK YOU for looking at my stats. What do you think, honestly. Should I expect a skinny envelope from HC?

I'm a white, bi-cultural female (Dad's a Swiss immigrant), and applied in mid-November RD to HC. What are your honest opinions please?

GPA: weighted 3.59
Rank: school doesn't rank
ACT: 30...and sent it
SAT: didn't take

EC: President of Sci-Fi club
Secretary of French Club
Active band member 4 years
active in two other clubs, one since it started

Academics: Catholic college-prep high school
Took 7 Honors classes overall, this year in Calculus Honors, French IV Honors, and English AP.
Missed about 25% of school in freshman and sophomore years due to health.

Essays: One was about how gas drilling in our area seems to coincide with high numbers of head and brain cancers of residents; I am a head cancer survivor. One was about my passion for Japanese stuff. One was about how a teacher totally changed my views on his subject for the better and how this carried over to other parts of my life.

Rec's: Since I haven't read them, I can only HOPE they're good. The teachers seemed eager to write them when I asked.

I visited HC last June and REALLY liked it. It was my first visit/interview and I was SO nervous.

What do you think? Do I have any chance at HC????

THANX!!!

It will depend in part on the reputation of your high school but you sound like a very strong candidate. Holy Cross is an excellent choice. Academics are top notch, the campus is beautiful and the community and alumni are very supportive. While Worcester is a working class city and a victim of manufacturing jobs long gone, it is very close to Boston (40 miles and on MBTA commuter rail) and it is slowy being revitalized and has a lot of hidden gems there including the Worcester Art Museum, the Higgins Armory Museum and the magnificent Mechanics Hall downtown.
