Hey all,

I am currently a student a Santa Monica College planning on transferring for Fall 2013. Honestly, although I've worked EXTREMELY hard during the time I've been here I am now at a 3.1 GPA and struggling with that fact. There is a chance I could raise it to a 3.2, but it's unlikely so I just wanted to get people's opinions about my chances. I'm an Art History major, and will definitely be planning on getting my Masters and Ph.D once I am done with my undergrad. I need to stay local (because of family issues), and wherever I would go I would definitely need financial aid and loans. I am also currently working at a small gallery, and I have an internship (and have had many previously). So I hope despite my GPA I would still be considered at some of the colleges I am applying to.

I'm definitely applying to:

UCI
UCLA
UCSC
CSULB
LMU
Occidental
and I'm thinking about the Claremont colleges, but I'm not sure which one.

My other question is, should I really be concerned (as an art history major), where I obtain my undergrad B.A if I plan on getting a Masters and Ph.D from a more "prestigious" University? Eventually I would want to curate or work in a large or small/local museum.

Any input or feedback would be great! Thanks!!
