Help Ranking Colleges for National College Match!

Based on what you said about living in Atlanta and wanting to be near a city, I’m sure you would hate Dartmouth. It’s cold, gets a lot of snow, is rural, and commuting won’t be easy.

I went to Duke years ago. East/West campus wasn’t a big deal. The busses run all the time, and since all Freshman live on East, you are not isolated, you’re with your peers. Yes, downtown Durham is a dump, but campus life is vibrant, and there are other areas of town that are absolutely fine and you’ll just go there instead. The weather is nice most of the time, with the exception of a rare ice storm in Jan/Feb.

@Momtaro you mentioned your daughter is going to the Tufts fly in program. So am I? Has she been contacted about travel yet or do you think they will contact once the application deadline (Oct 12) passes?

@blink24 sorry I haven’t been back on here. She rec’d an email on the 11th. It’s getting so close! Did u rank schools or are u going all regular decision?

@Momtaro np! I received my travel info too can’t believe it’s next week! I ranked schools, so I can get apps over with by the end of the month, but they will probably be moved to RD because chances of a match are slim.

Yes - the chances are slim… but not impossible.

Last year it was 16% who did Match. 657 (or 16% of the 4106 QB Finalists who tried to Match) were successful in getting Matched on Dec 1st. 788 of the 4895 QB Finalists did not try to Match at all.

Good luck…

Does anyone know if and where stats on matched finalists can be found? Not individual stats but overall like what percentage were URMs, First Gen etc.

@HailuMu

Here is how QB described the 657 Matched Finalists last year…

“In addition to an average unweighted GPA of 3.91, the middle 50% have received between 1890-2140 on the SAT (out of 2400), and between 29-33 on the ACT (out of 36). Academically, 96% rank in the top 10% of their class, including 28% who rank 1st in their class. Financially, their median household income is $30,245, and 84% qualify for free or reduced price lunch. The majority of these QuestBridge Scholars—75%—are also among the first generation in their families to attend a four-year U.S. college.”

Good Luck…

@WWWard thanks!! That’s great info! I couldn’t find it.

Best wishes and good luck to you too!!

@HailuMu you’re welcome

So I’m looking pretty good in the SAT department, I’m easily in the top 5% of my class, I get free lunch, have an efc of zero, but I’m not first gen (though I am an immigrant) and my GPA (depending on how they calculate it) would be slightly below average. All in all, I’m still worried. How do u guys think I stack up?

@IsaacTheFuture u seem far better off than me! My academics are solid but I don’t have free lunch and I am not first gen(although also an immigrant) my EFC is also not 0 but I still have hope because I think I explained the situation well. You seem to be a solid candidate!

1419 QB Finalists last year were not First Generation, so that is not an automatic disqualifier.

Good luck… @blink24 and @IsaacTheFuture
