I read that my NYU portfolio for the Film & Television program should NOT be sent to the Undergraduate Admissions Processing Center but it should be sent to Film & Television department of NYU Tisch. When I called Tisch asking if they had received my portfolio about a month ago, the man on the phone said something along the lines of “This is NYU Tisch, we do not directly deal with the portfolios here, please call the undergraduate admissions office.”

I called the undergraduate admissions office and they said that they were not doing status updates at the time… what now? I was thinking of calling the undergraduate admissions office again today, and just telling them about my situation and send my portfolio again… however, it’s already February 11 and I don’t want it being so late to hurt my application!

Darn, I just realized this is in the wrong section… oh well, same school, and both departments deal with portfolios.

Here’s what the website instructs you to do:

Undergraduate Division, Kanbar Institute of Film and Television
721 Broadway, 11th floor
New York, NY 10003-6807

Interviews are not available. Creative materials cannot be returned; please do not send postage or original materials. All materials (a three-part portfolio is required) should be sent in a single packet to the address above marked Attention: Undergraduate Portfolio. DO NOT send your portfolio to the Undergraduate Admissions Processing Center.

To expedite processing, the department encourages students to submit portfolios prior to the application deadline. All portfolios MUST be postmarked by the application deadline.

Is that where you sent it, gary? Did you send it by a method that allows for tracking the delivery? This should always be done with important materials.

Call 212-998-1700 and explain your concerns.

Yeah… I sent my portfolio to the Undergraduate Admissions Processing Center, exactly where they didn’t want me to send it. I actually do not have a receipt, I just hope they have it because if they don’t, I don’t want to be penalized because it is late!
