HELP! Should I still wait for NYU's transfer results?

Hi me again…
This spring, I got rejected by NYU Tandon, and I missed my DDL to enroll in UNC business school…
As many fellas guessed before, UNC rejected me for this semester. But I got really good scholarship money for the University of Rochester… And they even wrote a welcome letter about me and why they welcomed me… Not gonna lie, I was really really touched…
My result for NYU TANDON BTM still didn’t show up this Monday. But my DDL of UR is this Friday. Should I still wait for NYU? I knew NYU was way much better, but UR gave me really good money…
I really afraid the same thing will happen again for this spring. But I checked the NYU housing link, which showed no application…

I remember a netizen said that I could enroll and then withdraw. Can I do this?

If you want to transfer and UR is your only acceptance I would accept the offer and pay the deposit. You can withdraw from UR later (you will forfeit your deposit) if you receive an offer from NYU.

NYU tends to be much more stingy with financial aid so if that’s a concern, that’s yet another reason to seriously consider choosing UR over NYU.

UR is a GREAT school.

Let’s see - u lost UNC.

Do you want to have nothing ? And you said NYU previously turned you down ? So they will again.

No brainer. Crazy you even ask.

It sounds like UR, which is a top school or nothing.

I don’t think NYU is WAY better than UR. In fact, UR is an excellent school. It doesn’t have the name recognition of NYU because it’s not in New York City. USNWR ranks NYU as 25 and UR as 35. That’s pretty marginal. A much better known university such as Syracuse is ranked #62. I’d maybe be concerned about a gap like that, but not by ten spots.

My personal (and probably unpopular) opinion has always been that NYU is very overrated and would be regarded as nothing super special if it wasn’t in NYC. Plus, they aren’t going to give you a penny.

We do not know this for sure…but NYU does offer institutional need based aid to transfers in some, but not all, programs. And Tandon is NOT one of those programs.

Regardless…if you weren’t accepted at NYU last year, I’m not sure why you would be this year. If you only are a freshman, your high school record will again be used to consider your application for admission.

UR is an excellent school. But it’s your choice.

“ I knew NYU was way much better” not true.

Time to stop daydreaming and get serious.

You have a great offer from a great school. You have already lost one school by holding out for a daydream.

And yes, you are wrong that NYU is “way much better”. It’s just more famous.

tl;dr- love the school that loves you…

Thank you!!!

Thank you so much!! “love the school that loves you…” I will remember that

For statistical perspective on this, back when standardized scoring profiles could be compared fairly readily, NYU placed in a tie with UR, at 60th nationally.
