The fact that there even IS a substance free dorm kinda "proves" the prevalence of drinking all around

Actaully, many schools have a substance free dorm as a matter of policy, so I don't think it is as indicitive as you may think. Not that I'm particuarlly arguing in Duke' favor, b/c I don't know enough to comment, just FYI that this is common all around.

Also, if you have any questions about Wesleyan, feel free to PM me :D

mihan, since you were looking for schools that are a bit easier to get into than the Ivies but still prestigious and reputable, why not keep both Emory and Tufts?

Have you found the student review site useful, btw?

If social scene is what you want -- the arts -- I'd replace Emory with Tufts or I'd keep both.

Weskid - that's good to know! Oh man, all this advice - I don't know how to handle this! I think my plan of action will be: apply to Duke, ask some questions during my interview and figure out if it really is for me, get results, either say "woohoo, I'm going" "woohoo, but I'm not going" or "boo, psh, stupid school..hmph, never wanted to go ANYWAYS, so there!"

little_galaxy - I DID find it useful, but after a while,, it gave me the "you need to sign up!" thingy. I must have gone into a weird section and gotten stuck there, but I'm planning on going on again tonight : )

Bourne - I AM leaning towards Emory right now, but I have to give more justice to Tufts and look into it a little more before I make a "final" (HA, who am I kidding - there's NEVER going to be one, oiiii) decision. ;)

As far as Emory and Tufts, visit them and see which you liked better. Of all the schools I visited, Emory was possibly my favorite, and Tufts probably my least favorite.Emory has a gorgeous campus in a great area. There are a ton of things to do and great opportunities in Atlanta, so I wouldn't rule it out because of location (although Boston is arguably a better college city). Also, Emory has a growing national reputation. Tufts' reputation is also probably on the rise, although it's in the shadows of MIT and Harvard (but what school isn't?), and I hated the atmosphere at Tufts. Also, it's campus didn't impress me at all. I would go to Emory over Tufts hands down. That's just me, though. As far as academics, you will get a great education at both.
