HELP!!! UC Berk v. UCLA v. WUSTL (for business)

Dear god… if you’re worried about getting into Haas, you should be more worried about your priorities. Basically everyone who bothers to try/are relatively competent get in. I honestly think you’re overthinking this.

And honestly, Cal’s Econ department is way up there too, easily way better than UCLA/Wash U. So I’m not seeing what you’re worried about.

From the way you’re talking, you’re already leaning towards WashU… If you want to go there, don’t try to argue with yourself…

like i said, we hav our own theme song. decide carefully lol

i’m not already leaning anywhere. if i was, i wouldn’t have posted this question. i’m just trying to get someone to address my concerns about each school:
ex. i’ve heard that at uc berkeley, there’s great faculty, great academics, and a great career center except undergrad students barely ever have any access to it.
i’ve also heard that even though wash u has good academics, it’s surroundings (st. louis) is total crap and kids can’t get any internships/jobs there.

and @crowslayer91, i’m not sure what you mean by “that mentality” - i want to be careful about where I go to school. sorry for wanting to be happy for the next 4 years…

I’ve heard the United States blew up the World Trade Center on 9/11…that doesn’t mean it’s true.

^agreed, good point

^its not really a risk and it isn’t stupid. It’d be a risk if you decided to go to UC Merced because you really liked that place. (nothing against Merced, its just really new and…)

@OP, it sounds as if you don’t want to go to berkeley, but your looking for a reason to see to convince you too because of the great business school. In the end, you can’t really go wrong here with any of these schools, even UCLA because its in LA and you’ll have lots of opportunities. Don’t go to Cal just because Hass is awesome, go because you like Cal for other stuff. (i.e. the campus, food, weather). Also consider california weather vs. st. louis weather. Don’t leave out UCLA just because it doesn’t have a b-school. You will succeed whereever you go as long as you have the drive to. Personally, I think you should pick which school you like the most.

WUSTL does not have the traces of a Stanford in the making. Stanford is a heavily research school and postgrad focused. WUSTL, OTOH, is undergrad focused and generally just a regional school, in terms of prestige and brand name recognition. It does not have great professional schools either, aside from their med school. But it is a great school, nonetheless.

The UCs favor transfer applicants from Cali CCs. A Yale kid I personally know applied to Berkeley last year with his 3.6++ GPA and was denied outrightly. he could have gotten accepted if he came from a Cali CC with though.

thanks for all the responses. i’ve visited all 3 schools before but i’m going for an overnight stay at ucb this wknd & at ucla next weekend so i’m hoping that that’ll cement which school i like the most. btw, i’ve been hearing a lot of rumors about how the uc tuition may double - does anyone think that’s an important factor to consider? or do you think it’s highly unlikely to happen?

i’m actually leaning more towards the ucs right now because if i went to wash u, i’d have to take out about $9,000 in loans/year. &wash u’s a great school but i don’t think it’s worth it when i could go to uc berkeley/ucla for a lot less.

bump ^^^…
