Hello guys, I am torn between Vandy and Emory and have to make a decision soon. I’m thinking about pursuing a business career, but don’t know which school would be better. Apparently, Emory has a undergraduate business school and offers BBA degrees, but I know that you don’t have to be a business major to do business. So how does Vanderbilt’s Econ/HOD combo compare to Emory’s Finance/QTM double major? I know both are great schools but I’m really clueless as to which one to pick…
anyone?
What are you interested in the business field?
Here is a write up which explains Goizueta Business School very well.

These are academic peers.
- Would you prefer the greater Greek presence (and more well developed party scene overall) at Vandy?
- Much bigger sports scene at Vandy.
- Atlanta (albeit somewhat suburban Atlanta) or Nashville?
You don’t have to be a Business major to do business, but the breadth of knowledge you’ll gain – Finance, Accounting, Ops, Marketing, Biz Law, Org Behavior, Int’l Business, etc. – will certainly help. Check Vandy’s course catalogs to see if (within their Econ program) they offer those courses. If they do, you could fashion your own BBA out of an Econ major. Maybe they let you take business courses through Owen. If they don’t, you won’t be able to duplicate the Business breadth that Goizueta offers.
In sum, the biggest differences between these schools are that Emory offers Business and that Vandy has a much more developed sports and social scene. Otherwise they are quite similar. Atlanta is a bit hotter and a bigger city – I guess there’s that too.
uh vandy all the way not even a question
