Help! What schools should I apply for as a sophomore transfer?

<p>Hi! I am a current senior in high school who was accepted to NYU Stern School of Business as a 2017 freshman. However, I am thinking about transferring at the end of my college freshman year to one of the ivies or top schools. I go to school in one of the best private college preparation high school. The thing is, in my sophomore year in high school, I had very low GPA which pulled down my GPA in total to a 3.76. My junior and senior year GPA is about 3.95 out of 4.0 and I am in the cum laude society, which is very prestigious for academic accomplishments.</p>

<p>I wonder which schools I should apply to and how much chance I would have as a sophomore transfer if I get a 3.8+ GPA at Stern? If I get a 3.9+, which ones would I be qualified for? If I get a 4.0+, would it make things even easier? Should I retake my SAT and SAT IIs?</p>

<p>My top choices are: Columbia, Wharton (UPenn), Cornell AEM or ILR, UChicago, Brown. </p>

<p>Wait until you get there before you apply to transfer and do not go in assuming you will transfer… Make the most of your time at Stern, even if you decide not to stay. Also, if you are at Stern, you’ve done incredibly well for yourself, it’s one of the top business schools in the country. If you are really interested in a business major focus on Wharton or Cornell.</p>

<p>I don’t know how you could be disappointed or unhappy with Stern, it’s a fantastic business school. Some people these days…</p>

<p>The truth is, I am not really big on business, but my parents (Asian parents they are…) urged me to apply to business schools because they want me to take over their companies. If I can, I want to major in literature or creative writing. That’s one of the reasons why I am already thinking of transferring…But guys, thank you for the advice!</p>

<p>If you don’t want business, do not apply to Wharton or Cornell. Columbia, Chicago, or Brown would probably be better fits for what you want to major in.</p>
