One of the questions asks to write in "Payments to tax deferred pension and savings plans as reported on the w-2 foroms in box 12 codes, d, e, f, g, h, and s. Include untaxed portions of 410k and 403b plans."

what does that mean and where do i find them? I checked my parents w-2 form on box 12 and there's nothing on it.

Also, where can i find the amount of social security benefits for 2006?

If you put money in a pretax retirement plan, the most common ones are called 401K plans - the amount should be in box 12 on your w-2. Also 403bs (they are similar plans used by non-profits and schools)
However, if you max out your 401K and still put aside money they only want you to put down the untaxed amount. The limit is $15,000 per year and if you keep putting money in your 401K beyond that it is not pretax so would already be included in you taxable income.
Maybe your parents are not participating in such a plan at their work - it goes through payroll, that is how you get the pretax benefit.
