Help with reading

Okay, I'm aware of the fact that many people have already posted threads regarding the test's Reading section. However, after going through many of them, I realized that none of them really helped.

Could anyone who has scored 30+ on the Reading section please post advices. Is there anyone who would like to post strategies that really helped boost their score dramatically? I always seem to lack time; I can only finish two passages and their corresponding questions.

strategy, strategy, strategy,,,and April 4th is slowly approaching. Please help.

hey so 1st time i took the act, i got a 24. 2nd time i got a 30. Now on my practices, im not getting lower than a 33. What i used to do was go straight to thr question and look back and it doesnt work.... there is no time! I split up each section into 8 minutes making a total of 32 out of the 35 minutes so i have around 3 extra- do this it helps keep you on schedule. However, instead now i just read the entire passage very fast underlining names and stupid important stuff theyl probably refer to... then you just rip through the questions. I love the act because you can literally do 7 questions in 3 minutes, its not like sat where everything looked right. So............

1) about 2-3 minutes reading passage fast and underlining
2) about 5 minutes answering questions
3) also remeber.... whenever there is a always or never .... its most prob wrong.

Try this way and take a practice test see how you do...

those scores were all in reading section btw haha

Yeah as ntrading DO NOT look at the questions first it just wastes time. Just try to maintain a fast pace of reading, if u didnt understand a sentence dont worry about it just keep going. You will be surprised how much info you retain if u do a semi skim semi read. It is actually proven that the faster you read the more you understand. I only had to look back at the passage for a couple questions and most likely u will remember the general area the answer is in. Oh by the way i got a 33 on the reading my sophomore year. If u want a program to help u read faster try wordsmart progressive reader. It is really good.

Hope this helps.
Good Luck!

whatever that wordsmart progressive reader is,,,could you please send me the link for it???
thanks

Take practice tests. And a lot of them.
Once you get used to the question formats you should be able to have a general idea as to what sorts of questions usually appear in the reading section.

Like people said before, the best way to do the reading section is to read the passage. I find it much easier than reading the questions first and then going back to find the answers. Read quickly and underline key points that you think may be important. And again, once you take a lot of practice tests you should get a general idea as to what types of questions you'll need to answer.

You should have enough time to fully read all the passages. Pace yourself. With more practice, you'll be able to get the timing down. When I took the reading and skimmed through all the passages, I sometimes found myself with extra time at the end. For the ACT, it's entirely a matter of timing. And practice practice practice. Anyone can get a good score on the reading. (I got a 35 by the way)

buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuump
