I chose to write mine (wrote 450 words already) on the Syrian Civil War and how its intricacies made me see the situations in life differently, but I made it into some quasi-narrative/academic analysis. I openly criticized Assad because of obvious reasons, but I also tied it back to my ideals, as asked in the prompt. Any thoughts on my current idea?
The topic you choose for your essay is less important than your writing and what it reveals about who you are. The assignment is not intended to be a journalistic exercise but rather an opportunity for the ad coms to get to know you further. Be sure that the reader can ascertain qualities about you that they would not have known prior to reading the essay.
@Cantiger Thanks! I appreciate it. Reading your prior posts, I see you’re well-versed on all things P’ton. Are you also available to read any essays (specifically, the 500-word one mentioned above)?
Usually I would be but we have a big family event happening that will take my focus until the application is due! Have you had a guidance counsellor or teacher read it? They would most likely provide excellent insight.
@pocrocodro With the upcoming holidays, I wasn’t motivated to help, but after reading your Harvard thread, and learning how your dad compromised your essay, I’d be happy to provide feedback. DM me. -psy
@psywar Thank you very much! I will PM you very shortly @Cantiger No problem; I totally understand. Thank you for your advice. However, my teachers and counselors are busy this season, but psywar has got me!
