how would I solve these equation with the calculator?

such as

If k, n, x, y are positive numbers satisfying x^(-4/3)= K^(-2) and y^(4/3) = n^2 what is (xy)^(-2/3) in terms of n and k?

how would I solve these equation with the calculator?

such as

If k, n, x, y are positive numbers satisfying x^(-4/3)= K^(-2) and y^(4/3) = n^2 what is (xy)^(-2/3) in terms of n and k?

Umm, I think this is what you’d do:

solve(x^(-4/3)= k^(-2),x)
solve(y^(4/3) = n^2,y)
(xy)^(-2/3)|_____________ and _______________

Basically, your answer for the first equation would go in the first blank and the answer to the second equation would go in the second one. I’m not too sure how you would connect them, though (if it’s using “and” or using a comma or something else).

Thanks! it’s weird that thread is a couple years old.

Can anyone help me with this on the calculator?

If 10,000 microns = 1 centimeter and 100,000,000 angstrom units = 1 centimeter, how many angstrom units equal 1 micron?

On the calculator? Why?

10,000 microns = 1 centimeter = 100,000,000 angstrom units

10,000 m = 100,000,000 a
10 m = 100,000 a
1m = 10,000 a

Just drop a few zeros with a good ol’ Number 2.
1[0,000] = 10[0,000],000

because it helps me understand how to use the calculator?

What about this problem?

sqrt(x^2-t^2)= 2t-x

If x and t are positive numbers that satisfy the equation above, what is the value of x/t?

You can do it by hand, but using a calculator can be more “interesting”.

solve((sqrt(x^2-t^2)= 2t-x),x)

Take that answer (call it asd) and do this:

x/t|x=asd

thanks, never would’ve figured that out.

can anyone help me with two more?

If a, b, c are different positive integers and 2^a* 2^b* 2^c then 2^a+ 2^b+ 2^c?

and

If 20 percent of x equals to 80 percent of y, which of the following expresses y in terms of x.
