check out the salary by major.
http://www.studentsreview.com/salary_by_major.php3

some of those looks REALLY inflated such as almost all the liberal arts majors..

astronomy start at 42k, end at 250k after 10 years? yeah.... right.

and i dont know anyone going into athletics/training making 42k, more like 32...

I love this one:

Undecided $39,087 $187,000 11 yrs $173,553

Guess we all should choose that major!

i think most people who apply undecided end up in finance/buss majors

oh yeah, i realized that all the data was self reported..

Well, I'm an astrophysics major (astronomy, for the purpose of that list). That says my max salary is $316,258

Too bad I want to be a high school teacher, which is $54,798

Decisions decisions

actually, it's a pretty high paying field. i know a parents' friend who is an astronomer in CA and he makes over 100k. and he's not famous or anything.

Nice. Astronomers\Physicists aren't actually that bad. Perhaps I could even buy some bread, or a sofa or something.

Finance:
Starting $94,786
In 9 yrs $269,905
10yr avg $289,363

Woohoo!!!!!! 2nd highest starting average, the highest current average, and the highest 10 yr average...only behind premed.

And everyone knows that the marginal benefit of the $50k bump in salary is nonexistant when you consider the marginal costs i.e. $300k worth of debt, and considering that doctors enter the workforce 8 years later than finance majors...that means the opportunity cost is 8 years of potential wages plus the $300k in debt...the marginal cost of going to med school is like $600k+. And before you ask, yes I am in AP Econ and I'm kicking butt in that class (99.2 avg yay :D):D
And everyone knows that investment bankers make WAY more than $270k after 9 years on the job...

Uhh, since when were there some Finance vs Premed rivalry?
Money isn't the driving force of Doctors....

Some people enjoy the ability of getting 6 hours of sleep a night.

Oh I live on 2-5 hours of sleep a night now. It won't be much of a lifestyle change at all, don't worry.

Trust me, I'm not worrying. In fact, there are few things less important to me. :)

MMEI: There never was. I'm just pointing out the fact that finance salaries are the second highest on the list.

Mr Payne: Thanks for your concern. :)

Well, some people enjoying fixing people instead of moving money around.
