i have an Acer Travelmate 8104WLMi... its a Centrino 2ghz, X700 Video Card, 15.4 inch monitor, 1gig ram, DVD-Super Multi double layer... except its like $2200.

:( Sorry bro. Im sure Dell will have another $750 off soon before school. Ill post the next deal as soon as I hear of it.

i bought an hp mainly for the quick play feature and for all the stuff i got, it was $1400 total plus $100 for the printer with a mail in rebate of $200 off the comp and $100 off the printer(scan/copy/fax)
my comp has 1gig of ram,100gb hd,dvd cd burner(4200),ok graph card, 1.73ghz pent m processor. ive been using it and like it very much, the only games i play are microsoft games if that so i disnt need a great graph card...

how are the sony vaios and the toshibas?

OK listen to this:

My friend says any laptop below $1500 is a piece of s*** and that everyone should get a gamer's laptop bc its perfect in all aspects. What do I make of this?

Of course if theyre under $1500 then they still are good I think.

if ur gonna spend $1500, y not just get an apple powerbook?

I agree just get a "15 powerbook they are really good really thin have a good video card and a dvd burner.

Ugh but I don't like apple

Not everyone should get a gamers' laptop because gamer laptops are generally heavier and larger. Also, non-gamers have use for dedicated video memory, but don't need top of the line $300 graphics cards. I don't agree with your friend. Also, if by gamer laptop he means something made by alienware or another botique computer company, you just end up paying twice as much for a laptop with a name.

How is the DVD burner on Apples? I've heard they're quite slow. Would anyone recommend an external one instead of it, or should I just get the superdrive? Which is better: Ibook/powerbook or Dell Latitudes? I can't wait until I've worked out all kinks, get my laptop and then stop annoying CC people with computer questions.

well i dunno because i havent bought a laptop yet, but i'm leaning towards the 14 inch ibook cuz i cant afford the powerbooks. i saw coupons on techbargains for latitudes, but they ended up being $1200. if u use ur apple student discount the 14 inch ibook is also $1200 and the 12 inch one is $949.
