Here's a morale booster for all you worried CCers

What I’m not understanding is when you say you suck at math/science, but then get 800 Math II, 790 Chem, and 5s on AP Chem and Bio.

^What I meant is that I’m not so good when compared to my peers. When some of my friends got As in AP
science/math classes with minimal studying while I had to work harder just to get a B-, I’d say I’m not too good at those subjects in comparison to my peers.

This is like a movie haha. Especially with the low point of 5 rejections in a day. If that happened to me… man.

that was a great story! I’m a bit surprised that you saw Rutgers as such a lowly school though… Rutgers pharmacy especially has some really good academics.

maybe those kids got accepted too. I have a feeling that CC overestimates how good you have to be to be accepted.

It’s important to note that you attended a rigorous school. Adcoms would rather see a 3.5 at a hard school than a 3.8 at an easy school. Not to mention that those high 700s and AP scores of 4s and 5s demonstrated that OP’s school has grade deflation, and it was not a case of him being lazy… and why did someone grave-dig a half year old thread?

This thread makes me feel a little better. Thanks for sharing your mistakes. I once had all Ds during freshmen year. In sophomore I have a 3.75 GPA (unweighted). Now in my junior year I have a 3.875 or 3.9 unweighted GPA. I’m expecting a 4 on the AP Bio test and a 3 on the AP Lang test. My SAT scores will probably be low tho.

Have a nice day

JW, I would like to know what EC’s you did have. I think it’s great you got into those schools, but I would lie to know some of the other factors like EC’s, volunteer work, leadership roles, honors, awards etc.

Made me feel better about the two and only two Bs (89s) I had gotten in middle school that are on my HS Transcript (accelerated math classes) and the B I will be getting this semester for Intro to Engineering (hopefully nothing lower. Please nothing lower :<). Hope you are doing well in college now, OP! And wow, nice SAT scores :)

“and why did someone grave-dig a half year old thread?”

A few weeks ago someone brought one back from 2005. I thought it would have been archived by now.

@waitlistftl‌ , I’m just a little curious, where did you end up going to college. Schools like CMU and such had to be expensive with the high income you mentioned (I’m going to be applying to such colleges next year and I’m worried about financial aid, ;)

OP ended up going to Vanderbilt after getting off the waitlist. You can check his past posts by clicking on his username and then going to the Replies tab. Next time, you should use older threads like these for info only, although it’s true that more ancient ones have been resurrected in the past, haha. Good luck!

wow this was posted almost 3 years ago, but do you mind if I ask you what high school you attended?
its proximity to Rutgers and its rigorous course schedule remind me a lot of the school I am in.

I’d like to know if you went to the same high school as me to give me a better picture.
Thanks!

Can somebody close this?
