<p>anyone seen Hero. now wasnt those fight scenes the best you've ever seen. i personally loved the scene where all the archers fire (i even do reenactments in aoe). </p>

<p>i hate you another_asianboy!!!...just kidding. you didnt have to see the movie dubbed or read subtititles...i wish i understood mandarin...oh well. i saw the movie and thought it was BEEAAUUTTIFFUULL. I dont like jet lee (sp?...or is it li?) as an actor, but everyone else in the movie, the scenery, and all the special effects were f-ing awesome. Zhang ziyi (or ziyi zhang?) is such a great actress. i've seen crouching tiger hidden dragon about 50 million times and she was even good for 5 minutes in rush hour 2. i really want to see HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS.</p>
<p>i also cant wait until 'Memoirs of a Geisha' comes out. it has Ziyi Zhang, Gong Li, Michelle Yeoh, Ken Watanabe and Koji Yakusho.</p>

<p>I really, really, really didn't like Hero. It didn't seem like there was any substance to the story, and the over-the-top unrealistic fight scenes just seemed comical to me. Maybe it's not my type of movie...</p>

<p>i guess its the massive army scene that gets me. im a sucker for movies with huge battle scenes (like 3rd matrix or braveheart). watching two massive armies collide (or in this case, an army of archers fire simultaneously) really gets my adrenaline pumping.</p>

<p>Hero is one of the best movies ever! It is one of the few movies that actually had a good ending. I think it would be helpful if you know the Chinese history behind it, otherwise, the plot may seem vauge and confusing. Knowing Chinese may help as well. One of my teachers had to ask me to explain the two words "tian xia" because they had a deep meaning that is hard to translate. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about Chinese history or meanings of certain things in the story.</p>

<p>I personally think Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was better (I liked the underlying love story), but Hero's action scenes were awesome. Also, the use of color throughout the movie was just amazing - that part with all the leaves swirling around was just beautiful.</p>
<p>CTHD was also subtler and refrained from shamelessly tugging on your heartstrings until they snapped and beating you over the head with the MELODRAMA. sorry. i just think i'm horribly disappointed in zhang yimou.</p>
<p>asianboy, why dont you just buy the DVD? it's already out now for a couple of years, IA2 and IA3 were utterly horibble</p>
