Hi everybody, I'm new to this forum and I kinda have 2 problems.
Number 1, I don't really know much about how college works and I don't fully understand terms like "Bachelor" or "Master" and which one is better than the which, or even what's the difference from a college and university, so could anyone send me a link with a site explaining everything I need to know or even respond explaining it all to me?

Number 2, I'm really into Movies/Television and really want to do that as an adult, but I don't really know where to go to school for it and what class I should take. So far, I'm really in to acting, or directing, or maybe even animation. So is there a good college that teaches that?

A bachelors degree is the basic degree that usually requires four years to complete. A masters takes two more after that, and you must already have a bachelors before you can pursue it. Some programs will let you get both in five years.

You’re “really into” movies and television? Do you actually know anything about acting or directing? Have you ever tried either? What makes you think you’d be good at it?

EDIT: My explanation of a Masters degree was poor. It can actually take anywhere from 1-6 years, depending on what course you follow. These are much more dependent on your college and program. 2 is the norm at many schools with the 5-year combo arrangement.

Well, I would suggest using the college matchmaker search tool on collegeboard.com. This will help you figure out what kind of school is for you, and you can also research majors/career’s on that website also.

Most high school students appling to college are applying to go for a bachelors degree during their senior year of high school.

Well I’ve acted before, animated before (Animation Master by Hash and I’m pretty good at art), and I’ve filmed lots of stuff with my camcorder (I know it’s not really Directing but that’s all I could think of now…). I’m not saying that I’m a professional with all those things, but that’s why I want to go to school for them, and become a professional.

And when I say “interested in movies/television”, I mean that it’s something that I really REALLY enjoy and always wondered how it was done and how much work was put into all of it. For example, if I had a movie on DVD, I wouldn’t just watch the movie and then put it away. I would watch the movie, then watch all the “Behind the Scenes” and commentaries just to get a glimpse of how it was made. As I went into High School though, I began to want to be a part of it and create stuff like it.
