<p>I would say he probably was beaten as a child. </p>
<p>Second thing is, 30 or 40 years ago this kind of thing would be probably considered OK and as many of the parents on this forum grew up during these times, I don’t know how “unreal” it is. </p>
<p>Also as a student, the things he says that are “verbal abuse” I don’t see as being terribly wrong…</p>
