Alright our club hosts to annual blood drive each school year....One in november and one in april.
So in november i donated blood and now tomorrow is the next one.
Should I donate blood tomorrow or is once a year fine?
Cant make up my fine....i mean i already did my part of donating blood to give back to the community and those i need of blood, but now i think about it, maybe i should do it again?
I dont know, not that Im scared of needles or anything, its just i dont know if my body can take it because last week was really hard at track and now im so tired cause it?
what do you guys think?

You'll be tired on the day you give blood and also the day after. I didn't think i'd be tired the day after i gave blood but I was so out of it at a soccer game.
So if you got something physical planned (a big x game or something), don't do it. But if you have practice or whatever, do it. Because i heard that 1 person's donated blood helps 3-4 people or something. So if you do it twice a year, you'd save a max of 8 people's lives..

don't do it if you know you'll be extremely tired.

do it if there's nothing happening during the next few days

i wish i can give blood. according to my school's committee...i'm underweight :(

oh well maybe when i'm an adult...

You can give blood up to 6 times a year. I do it twice a year atleast even though I always pass out. I did twice on Thursday. But I say do it even if you get tired. There's sucha need for blood that so what is a little discomfort for you? It's saving 3 people's lives.

Giving blood saves three lives...think about it :p

It's a good cause - too bad I'm anemic.

I suppose a donation would do.

I didn't get tired at all when I donated blood...I was a little light-headed when I got out of the chair...but not fatigued...

has anyone donated blood platelets?? I'm doing it next week and I'm kinda nervous because they stick a needle in both arms and it takes about an hour

It is a good cause...too bad I am scared of needles...

^i didnt even light headed.......i was fine...until at night.....when i got really tired, i feel asleep at 6 and woke up the next day.

**
YOU GET A GOOD NIGHT SLEEP KNOWING THAT YOUR SAVED 2-3 LIVES :)

i wish they told you who got your blood, so i could have send them a post card to see how they were doing

You know what weird?...... the needle to give blood is one of the biggest but it does even hurt. I watch the lady put the needle in my skin and go right through it and IT DID NOT EVEN HURT ONE BIT....
this is the weird part...a regular needle like for taking a blood sample hurts more....those skinny one hurt not the big fat ones....so that should not be a problem for anyone

I have a bad memory of a nurse holding me down while she stabbed me with a needle as a young child. It was so painful...

I have been scared of needles ever since.

Maybe the thought of helping somone might help me overcome my fears...

i had a doctor who put the needle in and his hand slipped and made the needle slash across the inside of arm.....i still have memory of pain.....i SCREAMED ON THE TOP OF MY LUNGS...

BM1, that reminds me of something that happened with my cousin. It took three nurses to hold down my cousin when he got his vaccinations, keep in mind is 2 years olds. My mom told me he actually took the needle out and stabbed the doctor with it when the doctor tried to help the nurses.

I burst out laughing... that was so wrong of me.

at 2yrs old he stabbed the doctor? hahahahahhaha
the doctor got pawned....
doctor-- oh honey i got stabbed
wife- omg call 911
son/daughter- hello 911?,... we need an ambulance...my dad got stabbed
Police Officer- can you give me the description of the suspect
Doctor- he is my 2yr old patience
Wife, Son/daughter, Police Officer... ahhahahhaha your A LOSER>>>.YOU GOT PAWNED BY A 2YR OLD
ahhahhha lol

That poor doctor...

Do you guys know if I can donate blood even though I have a platelet disorder?

Bump.......

Bump 2....

nope,.......and i couldnt donate blood today :(
heres what happened:
i go there, the woman checks my blood pressure, does the prick and checks my iron level in my blood and then says im clear.....so now im ready to give blood, and lady is few centimeters away from hand with the needle ready to put it in........and then she starts to ask me questions, and at that point i just want her to put the needle in, so i just said YES TO WHATEVER QUESTION SHE ASKED ME WITHOUT PAYING ATTENTION...AND BOOM SHE ASKS ME THE KEY QUESTION "are you light headed" and with just going with the flow, i say yes....she goes YOU ARE LIGTH HEADED!!!!!!!!...im like holy cow, NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....then she goes YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO DONATE BLOOD TODAY.....i felt so crappy after that :( :( :(

BM1, you hve to be patient. What if she asked if you had HIV or engaged in sexual activies for money or had gay sex. . . and you said yeah .. they'd never call you to give blood again.
Also, did you know that if you have lived in a European country for more than 5 years since 1980, you cannot give blood???
Or even if

I wonder why . . . it's not like they have cooties or anything . .

I've never given blood because they do not allow anyone under 17 no matter what :(
