I received my rejection letter today too. Are we allowed to ask them why we weren’t selected? Like for critiques and such. Good luck to everyone else, though!
@peluche it just basically stated this was a very competitive year.
@bellpepper I honestly have no idea whether we’re allowed to do that. You could possibly give it a try?
Also, if you don’t mind me asking, which part of the region are you guys from? I’m from the Midwest. Just want to collect some statistics to kinda see where most of the acceptances go.
I’m very close to their headquarters and Washington DC, in Northern VA.

Got my rejection letter in on Saturday. Honestly shocked. Had a great interview, and felt like I really connected. Never have luck with these programs.
@thebly I felt like I had a pretty awesome interview too. I even thought I had a great one with NSLI-Y also, but I didn’t advance to finalist 
But don’t be discouraged! I got rejected to all 4 national programs that I applied to since it’s my first year to shoot a shot at these things. I learned a lot from these experiences I wish us luck on future programs that we all decide to apply for!
@Trizzydrizzy I also applied to NSLI-Y! Didn’t even make it to semis though. But you definitely have a point. The simple act of applying is great experience for the future when we decide to shoot for other programs.
My friend and I found out today that we both got in! Very excited! (We’re from GA)
Also side note to people applying for state department scholarships- shoot me a message! Im abroad this year on CBYX and i definately have some tips/comments if you want to hear them.
