High School issues

am a freshman at high and want to get a scholarship into UT…my GPA is 3.5…will this freshman year GPA affect me?

Well, if you’re in-state, you’ll have to be in approximately the top 5% of your class to even get IN to UT. If you’re out-of-state, it’s even harder to get in.

It’s very hard to get scholarships to the school. So yes, your freshman year GPA will affect you.

You still have two more years to pull up your GPA. However, you are going to need to work hard. Make a very strong effort to always stay ahead in your classes, take every class seriously, and seek out help early if you need it.

Wanting to attend UT Austin is a very good goal. This will keep you focused on your class work. In the end this focus will help you significantly regardless of whether you end up attending UT Austin.

Take this one day at a time and one week at a time. In two years see where you are.
