Hey guys, I know questions like this are all over this forum but I’d love some personalized advice if possible. I’m a junior going to a public high school (it’s ranked very high by US News, however). So far, Brown is by far my preferred undergrad college, so I’d really like to maximize my chances of acceptance as I know I’ll be competing with thousands of other equally-competitive kids.

Class Ranking: Top 1% (either 2 or 3 out of 310)
GPA: 3.97 unweighted, 4.60 weighted
I’ve always had straight "A"s (except for one or two "B+"s last year).
I’ve always taken the most rigorous classes possible (except for a half-year history course taken at the Accelerated level rather than Honors).

As far as AP testing goes, I achieved a 5 on the AP biology test, 5 on the AP US history test, and a 5 on the AP chemistry test. Within the next two years, I’m hoping to take AP tests in literature, physics, calculus BC, psychology, statistics, and either Spanish or government.

I’ve been involved with peer tutoring, DECA, debate team, various environmental clubs, and my school’s gay-straight alliance. Out of those, I’ve only stuck with the debate team and GSA for more than a year, however. Outside of school, I love to be politically active, and I’ve helped a bit to organize and advertise events for (as well as write for) Occupy Wall Street, the Drug Policy Alliance, and Greenpeace. If I were to attend Brown, I’d definitely be involved in their chapter of Students for a Sensible Drug Policy (which I believe still exists…). No jobs or internships yet.

I haven’t received my SAT scores yet, but Naviance calculated them to be around 2230 based on my PSAT scores from sophomore year. If I have to retake them, I’m more than willing to. I plan on taking SAT II’s in chemistry, history, and possibly biology if I can remember any of it from sophomore year.

I’m a white male from an average, middle-class family, nothing interesting there except my sexuality. In the future, I’m planning on a career in pharmacology/organic chemistry or social justice.

Any suggestions at all are welcome. Thanks so much for any advice! :)
