I just recently was cut from my high school soccer team. I plan on either running track next semester or doing swim. Should I pick up golf or water polo for my first semester sport? or should I just focus on becoming a faster runner or swimmer so that I can make varsity next semester? Also, how bad will it look on college applications if I do soccer all year freshman year, track or swim one semester of sophomore year, and then cross country and track/swim junior and senior year? Thanks in advance! :">
Why do you have to do sports?? Aren’t you suppsoed to focus on your AP chem??
In your another thread you said you have D- in Ap Chem
sports help me get my mind off school though and they help after a long day of strenuous mental activities
You have limited times. You have to choose either sports or more studying for your current grade…
The specific sports you do won’t matter in the long run unless you’re good enough to get a scholarship . . . it’s all about the GPA and the test scores.
Well one can excel in both academics and sports(several high school kids I knew did) yet don’t have to use sports as a means to get in college; it’s totally fine if one does for pure joy. However, if one affects another, then you have to give up one.
High school swim team can involve a commitment of up to 20 hours per week with 1 to 2 meets per week and 5-10 practices per week (including before school).
Exercise is a good thing. I say track. I also encourage you not to over think what your college application is going to look like.
