High School Students and the College Admissions Process

MIT has an admission officer going around the country, saying, as he said in Minneapolis on the 15th of this month, “Many MIT students are solid B students who take the hardest classes they could”

</p>

<p>Anybody else have trouble believing them?</p>

<p>MIT’s incoming class has a GPA of 3.9 with 97% in the top 10% of the HS class. </p>

<p>That doesn’t leave much room for “solid B students.”</p>
