How do you go about asking for TA positions in high schools?
I will be gone at college classes most of next year and I wish to still stay in touch with the high school.

Why do you want to be a TA? You just sign up for it as a course and then your counselor will assign you to a teacher. If you mean right now though, then go to the office to see if teachers still need them or talk to your counselor.

Ask your counselor to change your schedule.

There are no TAs in my school. No such thing as a TA course.

I don’t think that you would be able to be one then. I would advise that you take an alternative class as a replacement.

I don’t think you understand my question. Re-read post please.

I understand your question, I don’t think you would be able to get the administration to approve something like that. If you wanted to try though, go to the office and ask if they could make a TA course. Why do you want to be a TA though? There are plenty of other classes that you could take. Most colleges aren’t too fond of students taking TA courses, but I guess it’s up to you. You probably have other classes that could compensate for that(I’m assuming).

No you do not understand my question. I am not talking about a TA course. I don’t want credit. I am talking about volunteering my time. I will have a full college courseload and still want to stay in touch with the high school. I will probably TA AP Bio/AP Physics/AP Chem is I do.

O! I know what you mean now, sorry haha
Normally you think of someone who just sits around doing homework.
I would ask the teacher you want to TA for and then talk to the administration. There may be some rules against it so look into that. Best of luck!

Also, wow, you’re not going to be in high school anymore? Not even for English and history?

Lol there’s confusion on this thread.

TA = Teacher’s Assistant, right?

Normally you just go up and ask if they would like a TA since you really “enjoyed” their class.

Our school doesn’t give credit for TA’s either and a bunch of kids just go up and ask.

History and Science have lots of volunteer TA’s. Lazy teachers with a lot of grading.

Lol College classes are so much more fun. Although I might look into just taking classes at the high school I TA at.
Hopefully they don’t have any rules against it…

Lol I wouldn’t have been in their class. I’ve never even taken AP bio.

Nah, they usually don’t.

It’s not even legit, so you just come in whenever you have free time/teacher needs you. It’s a good way to show your face once in a while so they don’t mess up your recs.

Hmm. The thing is. TAs don’t exist over here. They might not know how to deal with me.

Don’t ask to be an “official TA”. Just ask if you can help out once in a while, like a TA.

And they’re probably familiar with the concept of TAs.

What college classes are you taking? I thought you were just taking a math class:/ Can’t you just take AP classes at your high school?

I would ask the administration if they mind you coming in and if they don’t mind, ask the teacher in question. Usually, at my school, they don’t allow that unless you are going to college for some sort of teachers degree but they do allow visitors to come in and talk to various classes about college life.

Thing is, Lawlz kinda exhausted all the APs sophomore year :P

At my school, I’m not taking that many classes at my high school senior year, so I asked the Math Dept. head if I could TA the AP Calculus class next year, and she said it was cool. Just ask the dept head. What I have to do is help grade papers, teach a couple lessons, stuff like that. I don’t get credit, but it will be noted on either my transcript or rec letter.

I would teach more after AP exams - stuff like intro linear algebra, intro multivariable, some proofs and stuff…I don’t know if this is the sort of thing you are looking to do though

:]

^^Lol, I guess so:>
