@kaiden: i disagree. the curriculum at cornell is much more rigorous and im sure the expectations of students are probably be much higher than at ASU. while i understand i can’t forecast an absolute GPA, there is a major academic disparity between the two. thus, it’s probably (again, not an absolute, just a general assumption) easier to receive an A and ASU than an A at Cornell.

of course, this will not be true for every class and every professor. cornell attracts top students, ASU admits almost everyone who applies. this logic leads me to believe that it will be easier to get a higher gpa at ASU than at cornell

if law school is first and foremost a numbers game than these issues matter. given my past academic performance i am fairly confident i can do well at cornell.

regardless, i understand all of your points about the education/connections at cornell. these amazing advanatages were never an issue of debate for me. i am just merely concerned on HOW law school admissions work.

From your posts, it seems like you would rather stay at ASU. Don’t feel obligated to go to Cornell just because it’s higher ranked or an ivy. If you do want to go to Cornell go for it, but I think lots of people are simply insisting on cornell for the prestige.

okay update: i was accepted to cornell this morning yay!

@soothsayerr: well ASU is easier in SO many regards: classes, location, my entire life is here and all my contacts. my bf of 6 years is here…

but cornell is an AMAZING opportunity. unbelievable education, their PAM program is absolutely perfect for what i want to do, very reputable school

i just want to do what’s best for my long-term goals, that’s all. im not looking to go to cornell for the prestige. of course, that is certainly a factor, but above all i just want to make sure i can still manage to get into a top law school.

You’ll do fine. Congratulations on the opportunity to get a great education for absolutely no money. It’s a very envious position to be in.

congratulations, it’s a great opportunity you got there.

You’ll get into a TLS no matter where you go, follow your heart. ASU won’t necessarily be easier (in terms of getting the same GPA), but if you want to stay for family/personal relations reasons then that’s understandable.
