History of Mood Disorder - DQd; no waiver

Well this is my first year attempting to apply to the academy and im not going to list my records but basically heres what happened:

I got my nomination from Henry Hyde (R) from Illinois and was listed as “Highly Competitive.” Until DoDMERB medically DQd me for “History of Mood Disorder.” I tried for a waiver but because i wasnt comeptive enough they didnt process my request. Both my ALO and AdminCounselor@the academy were stumpd, although i have slightly lower than competitive SAT/ACT scores, my overall composite was on the upper end, many areas exceeding the range.

Are the SAT/ACTs that powerfull? I thought if you were less competitive in some areas, being more competitive in others would help balance it out?

The problem may be more with the nature of the waiver than your records. Not enough info here to make any suggestions. Are the SATs/ACTs that important? Probably. With so many qualified candidates, sometimes it just doesn't make sense for USAFA to spend a lot of time and effort on a single waiver, too.

Alright, thanks for your reply.

I cant help but feel moderatly depressed at this, having been working twords this goal since my 7th grade year in Jr High, however i feel determined as ever to pursuit my dream and with 30% of apointments being from people who have previously applied, time to better prep/study for standardized tests, college courses and practice at the application process i feel i have some odds actually in my favor.
