Hmm....This could be good.

Ok this is for all the marbles.

GPA: 99.3 Weighted. They havent released unweighted, or a 4.0 scale, but in any case I'd be a 4.0 UW.

We don't rank either, but the only other person who could possibly be ranked higher than me has a weighted average a point lower. Meh, w/e, top 5 % is what they put.

SAT I: Math - 800, Writing - 780 (72/12), CR - 770

Linear Algebra/Differential Equations/Real Analysis (Distance Ed.)

ECs:
Sports: XC, Spring track - I completely phailed this year in both activities, so I doubt there's a chance for any type of hook attached to doing these sports from 10th to the present

Science Research: 200 hours last summer in the Science Research Training Program - My project involved cloning a membrane protein in a tick-transmitted parasite known as Babesia divergens. My latest project is on scoliosis....entering STS of course.

Clubs:
Math team - president (9-12)
Academic team - founder, president (10-12)

Community Service:
Spanish, Math, Physics Tutor - 10, 11, 12

Awards/Competitions:
2006, 2007 AIME qualifier and AMC 12 winner (Yeah, I had to bring the AMC competitions to our school in 2006 since we're so isolated)
2006, 2007 NYSML qualifier
2007 USNCO semi-finalist (2nd in section, 1st in county on local exam)
2006 AP Scholar with Honor
2007 AP National Scholar
2007 Harvard Book Award (yeah...not great at all but w/e)
2007 National Merit Semifinalist

Miscellaneous: A friend (well, he's more of just a helper) and I started a business (PM or AIM @ kyoukasuigetsu5 for the name and website, since it's not worth your time going on just yet...wait a month or so) that's going to sell some marketable (believe me >_>) shirts, my book (self-published), and maybe a few tutorial videos.

Essays: Great in that I kept it mad original/real, and my short "free-time" essay is boss (TB posted in the essay forum)

Recs: Both teachers allegedly gave me "top reviews", but I waived my right to see the recs, so I'll take their word for it with a grain of salt.

Interview: went great.

Well, sorry that's so long, but here's my limited list of hopefuls:

MIT (EA)
Princeton
Columbia
Harvard
Johns Hopkins
Tufts
Carnegie Mellon

MIT (EA) (Reach, for every applicant
Princeton (Reach, for every applicant)
Columbia (Match)
Harvard (Reach, for everybody)
Johns Hopkins (Match)
Tufts (Safety)
Carnegie Mellon (Match/Semi-Safety)

Admissions process is tricky. There are no guarantees with high caliber institutions like MIT, Princeton, and Harvard. However, I think you have a really good chance at Hopkins, Columbia, and Carnegie Mellon seeing as how you're a pretty solid student.

Whether or not you are URM should not hurt you too badly seeing as how you've gone the extra mile and then some for your academic studies. The science research and olympiads really distinguish you from the typical "elite" applicant.

Your EC's are fine, gpa is great, SAT scores for both I and II are as close to perfect as one could hope to be. Basically, I think your chances are great.

Though everything looks great, I'm just wondering (in response to UchihaMikyas), can anyone really be a match at Columbia and have Tufts as a safety? That seems overly generous.

Yeah, all ivies are at least medium reaches IMO

shameless bump.

Tufts for piccolo, can and should be considered a safety. Tufts is a fine school, I'll give you that. However, a student of piccolo's stature should have an incredibly high chance for Tufts.

He has a higher SAT score in all sections than their averages and has a rank slightly higher than their average.

On top of all of that, he has plenty more academic exertion compared to the typical Tufts applicant. piccolo has many AP's, along with nearly flawless scores, has had success in both the AMC and USNCO olympiads, and currently takes Organic Chemistry during his senior year...

Now, if he goes to Princeton High this wouldn't be as impressive because plenty of private and top private schools allow students to succeed academically by providing them with plenty of information and aid.

I'm not sure if piccolo goes to a public school or not, but if he does, the fact that he has all those AP's, olympiad experience, and currently a course at an actual college, should definitely give him a lot better chances than the average superior student.

I'm gonna say he has a 68% chance of getting accepted. The 32% is a combination of sheer bad luck and random trace factor(s).

yeah, I go to a public school.....

IDK If I want to do tufts now, I have to fill the supplement on paper =/

(joking of course)
