I am a boy. I currently go to one of the top private schools in NYC - we were ranked #1 prep school in America by Forbes a couple years ago. I am looking to apply to boarding schools to repeat my junior year and become part of the class of 2019. I will be applying this coming fall. I love the school that I go to now, but want to go to boarding school to get more college exposure as a hockey player and also have a better balance between academics and hockey.
I am a 2000 birth year. I played 16u National last year in the AYHL and next year I’m going to play up at 18u. I have not been recruited by a prep school yet, but most of the 99s on my team last year were recruited, (My teammates are going to: Gunnery, Choate, Taft, Exeter, Millbrook, Salisbury and others) so I think that I could get recruited this year. Even if I am not recruited this year, I’m probably going to apply to these schools and see if I can get in and then tryout for the team.
Grades: My grades are not stellar, but as I said before, my school is extremely rigorous and competitive, so “a B at my school would be an A at another school.” I also commit a large amount of time to playing hockey, which probably has a large part to do with why my grades are so bad.
Sophomore year:
History: B or B+
English: B
Math: B-
French Honors: B
Physics: B
Freshman Year:
History: B+
English: A
Math: B
French: B+
Biology: A-
Extracurriculars:
AAA hockey
Varsity Baseball and a baseball team outside of school
School community service council
School chapel council
Tutor at a public school near my school

Test Scores:
I have not taken the SSAT yet but will study a lot between now and when I have to take it next winter. I scored very well on the ISEE that I had to take to get into the school I attend now, so I am confident that I will do well on the SSAT.
Please tell me if I could get into the schools listed above even if I wasn’t recruited for hockey. Thanks!
