Good question, I don’t know the answer. My guess is it is fine for carry on.
This is not required for her school, she just wanted to play around with it in her extra time.
I bet she gets questioned, at the very least, going through security. My brother is a lacrosse referee and travels with a timer. All it is a box with some wires and a battery. It has a little switch that he flips during the game to start the 30/45/1 min timer. He gets stopped all the time and there is a long explanation necessary. If he’s checking luggage, life is much easier.
Thanks, then I would not do carry on for the bread board kit. Can you mail it to her school instead or check bags @1Lotus
I remember when that was the sort of thing we gave my older son.
Thank you! Same with my D, just wanted it for fun. She wasn’t planning on checking a bag. We will have to think about this.
Thank you!
Silly present but a huge hit. Dowdle puzzle of the Costco warehouse. It is a fun and funny puzzle to put together.
we did the dowdle boston puzzle this holiday break and have the bar harbor one to look forward to as our next puzzle project
We are moving soon and told the kids not to get us “stuff”. They did get us a few small things but really surprised us with a gift card to a local restaurant which is a very upscale place (food and service are outstanding - we have been there before).
I had to laugh when they told us they chose this because it brought back memories of us going out and the two of them having a good time together at home while we were gone. I said I wish I had known that as we would have gone out more often! Not to this particular place though it is very expensive.
Our kids rarely get us stuff (though I still cherish the insulated coffee mug and fleece blanket the picked out together, I think the first year the older one had a license). Usually they get together for a gift card or purchase tickets to a musical, which amazingly has always worked with our schedules.
This year the gave us Visa gift card since the could not purchase a gift card at the local farm cheese making class they are thinking we’d like. (Yea, both kids will be happy when I set up Venmo, as contemplated in Random Questions thread)
We gave this puzzle to our friends who love everything Costco sells but absolutely hate going there because the place is always a zoo. It was a well received gift!
Both D’s got H and I 2 nights of glamping at a new Airbnb in Joshua Tree. We are looking forward to going in March to see the spring flowers.
S gave me a very fancy scrabble set. It even has little wheels so you can turn it to everyone can see it facing the words properly (no one has to read upside down).
I gave my H a fancy scrabble set like that.
D and I decided to wax and oil all the letter tiles of the set. They look & feel better and more finished now.
I have a very small family, 4 older adults and my millennial daughter, and way too much going on for anyone to shop for multiple people. So we agreed to each buy and wrap our own gifts. We assumed we each had $25 from the other 4 people, and we would buy whatever we wanted for around $100, and wrap our gifts for our gift exchange get-together. It worked out great…everyone was very happy to get just what they wanted, and the gifts were much better than what I’d have bought for everyone!
Sometimes gifts we buy ourselves are best.
I bought D a nice soft lightweight hoodie from Costco. It’s the perfect weight and is easy to bring along in case it’s cooler than she expected. Also bought her two pairs of slippers in different sizes—will return the too small ones. S seems to like the munchies I bought him. He was finishing one bag last night. His GF likes the mini silicone oven mitts I bought them. She says it was just what they needed.
there’s still an element of surprise there, right? for the others! that’s part of the fun.
Reservations to see the Chihuli exhibit at the Phoenix Desert Botanical Gardens! Bit hit! For me.
Just found out my Christmas gift from my permaculture lad. He knows I love crocuses and wanted to plant more in an area I have for them. He ordered 750 of these and planted them there, plus along our road, driveway, in some other flower areas we have due to cutting two trees down, and probably more. It should look REALLY pretty here in the spring!
