For anyone within a reasonable drive of a prep school, and especially if you are fond of Christmas, I encourage you to try to attend a school’s annual Candlelight Service of Lessons & Carols if they have one… most schools do, though they are sometimes called something else. This is a beautiful holiday event, and the student musicians prepare/rehearse for many weeks beforehand. I have attended them at several different schools… Check in advance to see if it is open to the public; some schools have chapels which are too small to accommodate (like my kid’s school); so the event is only open to the school community and families. The setting, the music, the readings… I always find it a really moving experience, and it really gets me into the holiday spirit. And, it’s a great way to experience a prep school community! Check the school calendars – these generally take place during the first 2 weeks of December. Many schools will Livestream them, too. Enjoy!!
After attending for the first time, I am going to second this recommendation!
