We’ve had nice photos from several recipients of our TJ waxed amarillyis gifts.
Different subject- had to return some boots I got for granddaughter. Took them to the PO a week ago using the return label the company provided. Tracking # only shows “ in possession of USPS” at our local PO. What can I do to check in this and why it hasn’t made it back to PA in a week? I get that it was new years, but still……
I have actually had success calling the local PO and getting somebody who works there.
If any of the #s I have are actually the local PO, no one answers.
Our local post office branches are so short staffed they no longer answer the phone. The only option is going in and asking for help.

That was the plan. I was actually finally able to reach a human at the 800 # who gave me a case # and said “someone from the local branch should get back to me”. But it appears it might have been handed off to USPS/fedex surepost and is taking the slow boat to PA. Fingers crossed, and thanks for the help (you know who you are

The holiday season stretches toward Valetine’s Day when you gift TJ waxed amaryllis bulbs. We bought 8 this year, 2 for local friends and the others tucked in UPS/mail boxes. It’s been nice getting text messages with photos of the blooms. And my Dad describes his own phone. Today a relative posted a photo on FB. It’s shorter than others have been but very pretty.

Our Trader Joe Amaryllis, purchased in early December, bloomed this week too. Pretty blooms right above the wax ball.

D sent me a very similar picture of hers early this week. She had been wondering if it was a dud and if she should throw away. I wonder why they have turned out so short this year.
Probably a different variety. Another possibility is that the longer daylight affected the height (shorter, darker days can lead to spindlier plants).

Shorter can be nice, to avoid tipping over.
I used to get my mom boxed amaryllis bulb kits (with pot and soil) each Christmas. The last one seemed like it was nevvvvvver gonna bloom. Then it took off and didn’t stop. One foot tall, two foot… and higher. It was on the coffee table, and we kept laughing as one or the other would tip it over. Sometimes it even fell to the floor, requiring a bit of carpet cleanup. Still such a fond memory.
Here’s a photo before it got too tippy / damaged.
PS to my gardening thread friends - I planted the geraniums shown on the window sill in my yard that summer/2020. I’ve been wintering / propagating in the house and replanting ever since.
