I am currently a home schooled student hoping to be accepted into Yale University. Will being homeschooled affect my chances of being accepted?

Everything that you do during your high school years affects your chances of being admitted, some in a positive way, some in a negative way. Homeschooling is not what will impact your chances, what you have done with the opportunities presented to you will.

Holly, my son was homeschooled and is a sophomore at Yale this year. I don’t think in the final analysis the homeschool factored in much one way or the other. Homeschoolers are no longer unusual in the applicant pool.

I want to wish you great success and hope you will be coming to Yale! If you have any other homeschool to college questions for me or my son, please feel free to get in touch.

Thank you. :)

I think it has to factor into the process somehow. I think it becomes harder for the Adcom’s since there isn’t a high school class with which to provide a comparison. That said, if the other parts of your app are outstanding, you stand a chance.
