Not taking a visit will not hurt your application (especially because of your family’s financial situation). Think of all the international kids and West Coast kids that can’t visit Princeton, but they still get in. And doing virtual tours will help you get a feel of the college for sure.

What you need to do to demonstrate interest to colleges outside a driving distance is fill out the “rquest info” form online, then click on the links they send you and check your “MyCollegeX” page regularly. All of that is tracked as “interest”.

You should visit (and register at Admissions Center) for any college within driving distance.

You have excellent credentials. I would suggest you to apply for Wharton ED.

You have really strong test scores and great leadership. Because your ecs are fairly typical, if you include your awards/win scholarships, it’ll definitely strengthen your application. But of course, strong essays will definitely increase your chances.
