I'm a homeschooled junior in high school (have been homeschooled my whole life) and I'm starting to look at colleges seriously. My friends in public school have guidance counsellors to help them with college prep/decisions, and I was wondering if any such thing was available to homeschoolers.

Well, your parents! lol

Not really, but you can hire a private counselor. They’re pricey, but worth it. I don’t know how you would go about finding one, but you could find counselor’s at the local community college or high school and talk with them.

I spent a TON of time becoming a high school counselor for my son. You can get a lot by scrounging through this site.

To prepare yourself:
1 - Take SAT, SAT II, AP, as appropriate.
2 - Take the PSAT this October.
3 - Figure out what adults you will ask for recommendations.

To choose schools:
1 - Determine your interests, test scores, & grades to find out what kind of schools to look at,
2 - look on College Board and Princeton Review’s Counselor-O-Matic and this site for schools that match your test scores & grades & interests,
3 - research those schools.

Good luck! You can do it.
