We used Saxon for Math, the Exploring Creation series for Science, and a bunch of different things for other subjects

I hate Saxon,
But i see you used Apologia, a science curriculum that most on here would object to. (I use it)

Oh I hated Saxon too, don’t worry

I absolutely hated Saxon! For the most part, I don’t use a fixed curriculum. I just read the Great Books for literature and each year I choose a good textbook for history, science, math etc.

Why do you all hate Saxon? Just curious. I used it for Algebra I and II. I didn’t hate it.

Drill and Kill
Drill and Kill
Drill and Kill
Drill and Kill

It was so boooooring and I couldnt retain anything with the dreadful spiral lessons

I’m a junior currently in an online charter school! Best decision I’ve ever made.

I was homeschooled grades 4-12. 3 years into college, at Drexel now :)

Homeschooled 1-12, going to attend Webb Institute.

and loved Saxon, haha

Congratulations Nanotech and savethehagfish!

savethehagfish,

I had never heard of the Webb Institute but it looks like an amazing place! What made you decide on that school over other schools? How does one decide they’ll be a marine engineer? Just curious.

The school has a 100% job placement, which is great, but naval architecture and marine engineering also transfers really well to other engineering disciplines in grad school. I’m considering going into mechanical engineering later in my education.
I really decided that Webb was my first pick when I went on an overnight campus visit. The student population was really unique, there’s lots of emphasis on the honor system, and the courseload seemed pretty intense. I’m quite excited about joining in the fall!

cool, savethehagfish

and about saxon, thats why homeschooling is great, you can choose the thing that fits you! :)

I’m homeschooled! I’m an HS senior and will have my AA in June. I’ve been accepted to FIU (but they had to, because of an agreement with the college I’ll have the AA from), FSU, UF, and I’m waiting on American (top choice). I wanted desperately to apply to Georgetown, and I think I may have had a chance, but a private school wasn’t feasible for my family unless the AA credits transferred, which is why I went with American.

Cool Lament!

I’m “homeschooled.” I took every class at home until sophmore year when I took a couple comm. college classes. However, I have a private school that I am connected to, so it’s more like independent studies. Graduating high school this fall!

Great Thursday8!
One thing i like about homeschooling is how you take classes in so many different ways wether it be following curriculum, unschooling, watching videos, self studying textbooks, or taking college classes.

Accepted at FSU!

Congrats with acceptance!

Thanks! Also just heard from GW and I think American although I’m not 100% sure about the latter so I’m waiting for the official letter!
