<p>I'm applying to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth, Swarthmore, Amherst, and a couple of safety schools. I got 730's on both of my SAT Subject Tests, a 2130 on my SAT's (total fluke, I'm expecting at least a 2300 in January), 4.0 GPA, since I'm homeschooled I am the top 1 percent of my class :), I play several instruments as well as compose classical music, I have a few other EC's including a leadership position in a job, I am a caregiver to the elderly, I took two non-matriculated college courses and got above 100 in each class, I also got a letter of recommendation from those two teachers plus a music teacher, and I'm trilingual. </p>
<p>Do you guys think I have a shot, especially compared with "traditional students?"</p>

<p>if you do get that 2300 you’ve got a definite shot. What are the 3 languages? If you don’t mind my asking that is. Also you should list where you’re from, ethnicity, and other stuff (it makes a bigger difference than most would think). Also, if you’ve ever had any achievements in music (All-State, All-Eastern/All-Western, All-National, All-World) then you should list those, or if you’ve ever played in any private groups. Also if you’ve ever entered any composition contests you should list those too. And any sports you play, even if only recreationally.
But you’re looking pretty good, definitely on the right track. I would also apply to some schools like WashU in St. Louis, NYU, Carnegie Melon, Duke, and schools like those. They would be low reach for you, so you’d probably get in and could use them as a fall-back for if you come up just short of getting into HYP.</p>
<p>Thanks for the reply. I know English, Italian, and Spanish. I also know basic Latin and conversational French but I’m not proficient enough to list those as languages I know. I’m from NJ, I’m white, but my mother is an immigrant, we also make less than $75,000 a year and neither of my parents graduated college. My brother will be getting his Masters from MIT if that makes any difference? </p>
<p>I haven’t entered any music contests but I do play semi-professionally (i.e. part-time gigs). As for contests, I’ve won a couple of creative competitions I might list those. I also play golf. </p>
<p>As for schools, I’d like to stay close to the East Coast. I was thinking about Duke but it’s rather large and I’d like to go to a smaller school. I’m applying to Clark and Bryant as my safety schools. Do you have any other suggestions? </p>
