OK... ND says it requires homeschooled applicants to take 3 SAT IIs (in science, history, and foreign language)-- and score very highly on them (ND admissions told me that it was "imperative" that homeschool applicants be strong standardized test takers)
...-I've actually seen several people on this board and other places who applied/were accepted to ND as homeschoolers w/out ever taking the SAT IIs-??? Do I need to take the tests if I homeschooled for my first 2 yrs in high school, but now attend a private school?? I already planned to take SAT IIs in math, maybe physics, and english lit... but I'm only in Spanish II (long story) and taking the SAT II in Spanish would be bad for my application if I scored low (btw, the F.L. sat requirement seems dumb to me, if they only require their "regular" applicants to have 2 yrs of FL, why make homeschoolers take the SAT II and tell them they must score highly on them?)... soooo, is there any way I can get around this? Oh, btw, I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but I got "official" grades from a small Catholic school (co-op sort of... but different) The school is in the process of being accredited... was I really "homeschooled" in NDs eyes?? Is it better to just say I was never officialy "homeschooled" for those two years but rather went to a Catholic school? Sorry for any nonsensical nonsense... it doesn't make sense to me either... ;D

Yikes, that is a pretty specific situation. I definately would email admissions and ask them about that because it does seem to be an interesting situation. If I were you I would still take the SAT II's just in case (and really study up for them) but ask ND to be sure. They are the only ones who truly know what they are looking for and they will be happy to help you and won't lead you wrong. Good luck!

i don't know--if the grades from the small school/co-op are actually official, it should be ok. this is different, but i was homeschooled for 1 semester, and my high school just kind of adopted my grades from then, so it looks like i was never homeschooled. you should def. call the admissions office, and tell them the whole situation. (def. stress that you're in the process of getting the grades from that school.)

well it sounds like your a junior ? now and not applying this year which is good. I'm no admissions counselor and I apologize but I'm going to refrain from putting forward my own thoughts. I would say contact the admissions office via email. This might be easier than phone, although that can't hurt to call, simply because of the complexity of your situation and the variables involved within. Good luck, hope they give you a response and it clears things up.
