<p>Overall, I doubt it matters; unless you have a compelling anecdote regarding your sexual orientation, it won't make/break the application. Make sure it applies to Columbia alone, though--the whole "acceptance" thing is true, but fits most other upper-tier colleges as well, and isn't quite unique.</p>
