Will I be more likely to get in if I mention that I am gay in an essay?
I have heard that Columbia tries more than any other Ivy to have a large LGBT+ population. I am not saying that I want to use the system… but this is my dream school we are talking about.
Being gay won’t make a difference to your chances of being accepted. Certainly mention it if is part of the story you want to tell in your essay or if it is a big part of your ECs etc.
They don’t try to admit more LGBT – it’s simply a coincidence. Your sexuality is neutral as far as your admissions chances go. GL however.

I’m pretty sure just a lot of intelligent LGBT people apply to Columbia because it’s in NYC. Lol
