Hi, I am a pronounced and openly gay student at my high school. I wish to continue to exhibit my sexuality in post-high school graduation years. In order to fulfill my needs as a student and as a homosexual, what would be a good college to apply to? Thanks!

Exhibit your sexuality? You mean flame it? Or just be who you are?

Penn. http://www.vpul.upenn.edu/lgbtc/

Now this is an interesting troll...

I'm not a troll, I'm deepy concerned about my chances to display my sexuality. I do not appreciate it if you assume bad things. I'm here to get help not be to be discriminated against.

I found this interesting (The OP authored it).

This topic actually interests me. I'm a part of my school's shiny new Gay-Straight Alliance, and my parents seem wary when I list that among my EC's. Although I'm a straight girl, I do feel very strongly when it comes to gay rights, discrimination, and homophobia.

I'm not sure which school is the best choice for you, but I will admit that my heart flutters a bit when I see a GSA listed among a possible school's activities. It's always nice to see an accepting environment.

Milki - that was my friend, lol not me. Trust me on that one.

Emily G - thanks very much

NYU has a pretty big gay population.

Emory as well, and Atlanta is in like the top 3 (it may actually be #1) of cities with the largest gay population.

And just saying objectively: you might not want to be so (for lack of a better word) flaming, every college is going to have homophobs, and if you wear your homosexuality like a patch on your shoulder, you'll probably get into a few drunken bar fights.

Mili. Thanks for making my day :)

According to the Princeton Review's ranking of 'gay community accepted':

1 New York University
2 Eugene Lang College--The New School for Liberal Arts
3 New College of Florida
4 Macalester College
5 College of the Atlantic

As you can see, you should stay away from religious colleges. Notice also that many southern colleges seem anti-gay.

I'm not that great of a student though, definitely not good enough for Emory or Penn, or NYU.

"Pronounced," "exhibit," and "display?"

See milki's link.

Troll, troll, troll, and not at all funny. /unbump

what's wrong with you people? I'm not a troll.

BTW...unbumping this hurts you..not me.

If you're not that "good of a student," I think I would suggest Bennington College, Hampshire College, Sarah Lawrence College and Marlboro College. I, too, considered homosexual acceptance in applying to colleges, so good luck to you!

What do you mean by "displaying your sexuality"? If you mean not hiding the fact that you are gay and not hiding your relationships, that's one thing. Outside of a few homophobes, you shouldn't have many problems.

If you mean running campus shouting "I'm gay! I'm gay", that's another. The latter is just as annoying as a straight person running around shouting about their romantic interest in the opposite sex. That course of action is unlikely to be very popular.

No matter where you go (unless it's deep south/religious schools as stated before), you'll find other homosexuals. It's chill...just stay away from the south. Hell, even I'm scared of the damn South.

Uck. I am a gay (not yet openly) student, and I am just so sick of openly gay people who constantly look for new ways to flaunt their sexuality and rub it in other peoples' faces. "Display" your sexuality? Why can't you just BE who you are? Grow up. Your "I'm here to get help not be descriminated against" comment is so obnoxious; people like you just search for homophobia in every place that it is not and undermine others' legitimate claimes. And don't go crying homophobe at me, I'm gay and I'm okay with it, I just have no need right now to join the other gay students in my high school who chose to be absolutely defined by their sexuality rather than just letting it be a part of them.

^^ I think you're drawing a little too much from his words...

^ i agree.
