Honest chance appraisal

Hi, fellow aspirants and seasoned pros,

I am a student studying in India.

I am still in the 10th grade and would want any of the experts to appraise my chance for University of Toronto Comp. Science. I would also appreciate if you gave me suggestions for some other universities based on my performance that I have a good chance of getting in. I am still in 10th so have the chance to improve my ECs on your recommendation.

Grades:
I have been getting 90%+ till 9th grade and am sure to get above 94%+ in 10th CBSE board.

ECs:
1)Won second place at the national level in the National Science Seminar 2017 among 1500+ schools. I presented on Waste management Plasma incinerators and other scientific modes of waste disposal.

  1. places 15th Zonal and 37th at international level in International English Olympiad.

  2. Won numerous state level prizes in Elocution and Quizzes.

  3. Have a huge interest in Artificial intelligence/Deep Learning. Have completed 5-course specialization on Coursera on Python by University of Michigan. Almost completed Andrew Ng’ course on Deep Learning and Neural network and plan to complete the specialization within the next two months. Completed Imperial College of Engineering’s course on Mathematics for Machine Learning.

There are other tiny things like(Debates, Mathematics competition(state level) etc.

I would love to hear from you on how I can improve as I have almost 2 years till Admissions.

Thank You,

@AbhijithC I recommend you delete your last name. It makes you too identifiable.

You are on a good path for admissions to U of T. Keep it up. I recommend that you read the info I posted for Jon1717 regarding admissions to the CS major at U of T.

Look into the University of Waterloo too.

Thank you @bounders… can you also give a statement on the financial aid and other universities in US. Can you also suggest me some other ECs if I get a get a good score in SAT

Also can you please send me the link for the suggestions you made to Jon1717

Update: Got the link…thank you

Hard to chance you for some schools since you don’t appear to have SAT’s.

@aunt bea apart from the SATs can you give a rough chance

I am sure to get a good to very good SAT score as I will be preparing for JEE which is comparatively more difficult

Come back when you have a test score under your belt.

Make sure your parents can afford the schools.

Financial aid?

U of T and other Canadian schools for the most part don’t do financial aid. They give out a very small number of merit awards.
