Honors and Activities

What counts as "honors"? I know something like National Merit would, but what about some other award, such as winning an essay contest, or a Youth Achievement Award? Do those go under honors or activities or someplace else entirely? Also, I am a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. I'm thinking it seems more like an activity because it's basically a club, but I don't know if it would also count as an honor?

This question has been asked a lot before and a quick search can get you all the previous answers.

Honors are generally awards (winning your essay contest, a Youth Achievement Award, etc.). As far as honor societies, answers generally vary but the consensus here on CC is usually if you are actively involved in an honor society then it’s an activity. So if you do community service, go to meetings, etc. then an honor society becomes an activity. If you’re just a member and don’t really do anything then it’s an honor.
