Ancient Civilizations
This dorm will help you explore your interests of ancient civilizations through informal discussion, exploration of ancient foods and
crafts and increase your tim_ with games (Roman knucklebones, Civilization and more!). We’ll also help diversify the Hum110
curriculum and help freshmen out with review sessions. Whether you prefer conquering barbarians or creating beautiful pottery, or
just eating great food, we’ve got a space for you! (Mongols welcome, please check your hordes at the border.)
The Chap Dorm
Dedicated to the revival and cultivation of the Chap and Chapette, we of The Chap Dorm seek to encourage the expression and
development of such fine elements of character as impeccable style, astounding chivalry, and a wit as razor-sharp as the creases in
one’s trousers. Wot-ho!
The Co-Op
The Co-op is a dorm full of individuals committed to living communally. We function independent of a House Adviser, making
decisions based on consensus. We make all of our dinners and do chores collectively and are not on the board plan. Members of the
Co-op commit to 6-8 hours a week of cooking and doing chores, and in exchange receive five home cooked dinners per week, as well
as ample food for other meals. The Co-op is a very close community open to anyone interested in cooperative living and sustainable
consumption.
Film Dorm
Come live in a community of humble film buffs. Enjoy film of all kinds both on and off campus (Film festivals etc.) and engage in
challenging discussions. Possibly create short films with other residents. All are welcome regardless of experience in film theory.
Participants will be asked to make a small contribution to a communal fund to be used for dorm activities.
Japanese Culture Dorm
The Japanese culture dorm is a place for people who would like to develop their interest in Japanese and Asian culture with likeminded
individuals, and those people who are simply interested in learning more about all aspects of the unique culture of Japan. We
enjoy weekly viewings of Japanese films, trips to the nearby Asian market, and off-campus visits to exciting cultural events and
locales like Portland’s beautiful Japanese gardens and Taiko drumming concerts.
The League of Nations
There is something for everyone at the League of Nations. Whether you’re a world traveler already, or you yearn to get out into the
world, at the League of Nations we all strive to push the limits of our understanding and explore the world around us. International,
American, and third-culture students will enter a dynamic and exciting community in the League of Nations, where the people are
friendly and the food is good.
The Mad Science Dorm
This dorm is for people who enjoy science both inside and outside of the classroom. Not only will the dorm encourage and support
any interest a member has in a particular field of science, the dorm will also look into exploring the history of great scientists and their
discoveries. Dorm activities will include; discussions on topics of modern science, constructions of several circuits, a few Star Trek
marathons, movie nights, and study sessions for the entire campus.
Outhouse
Snowshoeing, skiing/boarding, backpacking, climbing, cave exploration, and hiking are a few of the main objectives of the outhouse
community. Granted the Reed campus is fun, but if you ever want to break the bubble with a few Reedies who share a love of the
Oregon terrain, the outhouse is for you.
Running with Scissors
Come join us in Running with Scissors, where we have weekly Saturday Morning Cartoons, art projects, games, and our own beautiful
paintings on butcher paper. We think that there is no better way to relieve stress than to play with your fellow dormies. So come play,
paint, cook, and be silly with us, because the dorm that plays together, stays together.
Substance Free
For those looking for a sociable and supportive place to live that love parties, but prefer a quieter, non-substance oriented living space
need to look no further. Sub-Free is a community where residents agree not to bring tobacco, alcohol, or other substances into the
dorm. We also work to provide a safe and welcoming place for people who feel the same way we do.
Women's Theme Dorm
The goal of the Women’s Dorm is to provide a clean and quiet living space for female residents who prefer not want to live in a co-ed
environment. We want to continue creating a strong, positive community for women to thrive in and also for the Reed community at
large to interact with.
Yoga and Mediation
The Yoga and Meditation Dorm is a community of open-minded seekers dedicated to cultivating self-awareness and exploring matters
of the spirit through contemplative practices of the body and mind. It is a space in which members of the community support each
other along the path of conscious living. If you’re looking to nurture your spirit and live in a warm environment, then this is your
dorm.
