Honors Dorms?

Anyone know of a list of schools with Honors Dorms? My cousin's D went to Wright State U. in Dayton, Ohio. She lived in an Honors dorm where you had to have the GPA to live there. Most kids were either pre-law or pre-med & mostly some kind of pre-grad etc. However, it was quiet and you could study there. If you made noise after 11 p.m., you got kicked out.

My daughters school had quiet dorms ( quiet after 10pm), subfree dorms ( no substances allowed), running with scissors( ? sports?) ancient civilizations, womens dorm, chap dorm ( P.G. Wodehousesque), outhouse ( outdoor activities),co-op dorm, Japanese culture, yoga and meditation, mad science and film.
Good selection for a school that is smaller than her sisters high school.
No honors though-
She lived in subfree for three years, we found it very quiet- she often studied ( and slept) in the library. Senior year she will have her own office ( which she will share with other seniors thesising with same prof)
Having a single room helped a great deal as well, she never had to request one, it was just assigned, but that is something that you may want to think about.

I know UMich has honors housing.

Indiana has honors housing.

Tulane has Honors dorm. I believe UMd, College Park, has honors dorm for those admitted to Honors College (not sure).

U. Texas Austin has an honors dorm

Penn State is another one I believe.

University of Florida has a brand new (2 yrs. old) honors dorm for those in the Honors Program. S said that if he had it to do over again, he would have chosen one of the non-honors dorms.

Carolyn is right. Penn State has two honors college dorms.

Florida State University has two dorms for students in the honors program. One is completely renovated and really nice, the other is older.

University of Delaware has honors dorms.

Pitt has honors dorms, too, as well as quiet floors and special interest housing. I want to mention that honors housing is not always guaranteed for honors students. At Penn State, if you do not take the honors housing freshman year, you can't get into it later. At Pitt, students have to submit an application and short essay to apply for the honors housing. Other colleges may have stipulations as well.

BC and William and Mary have, but I think in both cases it's only for freshmen.

These are fairly common now, UC Davis has a Davis Honors Challenge housing plan.

Michigan State U has Honor's residence halls.

Patsmom - why did your son say that he would prefer a non-honors dorm?

Texas137 - He made some very good friends in the honors dorm but, in general, I think he just felt that the "fun" kids were in the non-honors dorms. And this is coming from a kid that's not a party animal, by any means. He had many HS friends in the non-honors dorms and he visited them often. I think he just got a better vibe in the regular dorms.

This is not to say that other people would feel the same way. In fact, most kids in the honors dorm preferred it. I thought it was terrific, myself, but what do I know? :)

UMd has several different degrees of honors, but each version of honors/live & learning communitites does have special housing - this includes Gemstone (honors), Honors, Honors Humanities, Scholars (live & learning, not honors). Except for the new dorm that was built specifically for honors, though, honors housing doesn't differ from the usual housing (in terms of size, absence of AC) except that you live around honors kids.

UVA has a separate dorm for its first year Echols Scholars.
