Honors Fellows Alternates

Does anyone know how the wait-list for the honors fellows works and how many students are on the wait list? I was accepted into the Elon College Fellows but will likely need the extra scholarship money from the honors fellows in order to attend. Approximately how many people are named as alternates each year, and do they typically accept students from the alternate pool into the program? Does anyone know what dates the alternates were notified in previous years because the person I talked with from admissions today said some alternates could even be notified after May 1st which doesn’t make sense to me since decisions will already have been made by then. Thanks for any help.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Jack, I don’t have any specific or anecdotal knowledge about the Fellows waitlists, but on my D’s Fellows notice it said that the enrollment deposit serves as confirmation of her participation in the Fellows program. Since enrollment deposits are not due until May 1, it is technically possible that Elon will not know if they need to go to the waitlist until that date (if some wait until the last minute to make a decision and send their deposit.) So that would be why you might not hear until after May 1. I understand that does not help you make your own decision by the May 1 deadline, but they have to allow the chosen applicants the full time to respond to the invitation. My advice would be to place another call to your admissions rep at the beginning of next week, when they may have a clearer picture of how many have accepted or rejected the invitation.
