We received and email today giving us a list of honors FSPs:

FSP 101 H1 & H2 Springsteens Lyrics as Literature
FSP 104 H1 Irish Cinema
FSP 111 H1 & H2 Morality, God, and Free Will
FSP 111 H3 The Evolution Controversy from Ancient Greece to Modern America
FSP 124 H1 The Politics of Oil in the Middle East
FSP 131 H1 The Beatles and their World.

Which ones are supposed to be interesting? Are any of them supposed to be particularly bad?

The Beatles is a pretty popular one. One of my friends was in it and she really enjoyed it. I had Irish Cinema and while it wasn’t always particularly interesting it was a fairly easy A. The professor was a really laid back guy. I chose Irish Cinema because it also covered the global honors requirement.

Those of my friends who were in any kind of philosophy fsp didn’t seem to enjoy it all that much. I distinctly remember them staying up long hours to write their papers (but of course this could have been the result of some laziness on their part). The nice thing about the philosophy ones is that they’ll cover the philosophy requirement.

I’m going to assume that the Springsteen one is going to be popular. That one, the evolution controversy, and the politics of oil weren’t offered this past year.

Since I’m an Education Major (meaning I’m basically taking a double major), and I want a minor, it seems it’s going to be difficult for me to fit the honors courses into my schedule. So I definitely like the idea of covering honors requirements with the FSP. Do you feel covering the global honors requirement will be helpful in the long run?

Also, of those which ones would cover different honors requirements?

Did you hear about any being particularly difficult?

I thought it was rather helpful to kill two birds with one stone. I am a bio major with a double minor so I wanted to try to get rid of as many requirements as possible. Last year we could look at the courses online and it told us what they covered.I’m not sure if they have the courses online yet though. If you have access to PAWS you would be able to find them.

I know Irish Cinema will definitely cover the global requirement and I would guess that the politics of oil would also cover global. Morality, God and Free Will should cover the philosophy/religion requirement.
