Hello, I’m going to be taking honors physics in the Autumn and wonder if anyone has any tips. I’ll be done with math153 after this quarter and will be prepping for physics over the summer (in the process of a change of major). Should I be studying all day every day through summer? Someone I talked to in math honors says that his math sequence is horrifying, but I have yet to talk to someone who has done honors physics. Thanks!

(fyi I’ve been doing very well in the 15x.xx calc series)

My son took an honrs math series the first year and didn’t care for it even though he normally loves math and excels at it. He took honors physics 131 in the fall his first year and did not think it was too bad but then he switched to the non-honors physics for the remainder of the sequence (132/133). He did say that he’d heard that 132/133 honors were hard although he couldn’t judge for himself.

If you took a solid physics class in high school, it should help. Maybe you can get the textbook and start reviewing over the summer if you are concerned. If you are already registered for the class, maybe you can find out who is teaching it and ask if they can send you an old syllabus so you can get an idea of what to expect. I know my son sometimes contacts instructors to get info about classes he will take.

I wouldnt worry too much. 131 has been relatively easy so far. Just kinematics and 2d motion. The hardest part is rotational motion. 132/133 deals with electric fields which I heard are hard. Next year the two physics classes are 131 plus half of 133 and after that 132 with the other half of 133
