Has anyone heard from the Honors Program or know when those invitations are issued? Daughter accepted EA, but no wrod from Honors.

my son’s friend was accepted EA and was working on his invitation/application this past weekend. I don’t know anything other than he was working on it and the essays. Don’t know if that helps or not!

I was on the EA admitted students chat and I think the USD admissions counselor said Honors was given to students in their acceptance package… Maybe I’m wrong, the chat was going so quickly.

i was accepted EA and my invitation to apply to the honors program was in my acceptance packet. the application is up now, but i’m pretty sure you don’t have to be invited to apply, the invitation is just the school’s way of telling you they think you’d be a good match for the program

Anyone know of transfers being allowed/ invited into the program?

Hmm, I haven’t been accepted to the school yet, but on the portal it says that I was invited to apply to the Honors program. Don’t know how that works, but alright.

Anyone know how the Honors program is? I hadn’t even been considering it until I saw that I was invited to apply for it.

Hi everyone!

I’m currently in the Honors Program at USD and serve on the Honors Student Board. No worries acceptances for the program have not gone out. The review process takes a long time because our director goes through each application personally. You should receive word of acceptance sometime in April.

If you’re thinking about applying contact the Honors Program office at USD. They’ll be happy to help you with questions OR put you in contact with a student that could help your son or daughter.

I definitely recommend applying. All of the students that go through the program say that it’s an amazing experience and really adds to their time at USD. They add that in all the honors classes they feel that they are on an equal level with the professors. The professors are just as willing to learn from the students as the students are willing to learn from the professors. The classes can be more difficult but that’s because you’re in a class with all high achieving students.

Transfers are allowed to apply and are at times accepted, but it can be hard for transfers to complete the program. Most of the honors classes (90% or so) are grounded in the core curriculum, so if you’ve satisfied all of your core requirements at your previous school it can be difficult to complete the Honors Program depending on your major. I have a friend that was a transfer and able to complete it, but it takes planning and dedication.

You do have to be invited to apply for the program for your freshmen year. If you get onto campus and were not accepted or invited to apply you can freely apply at the end of the semester. Students who receive the Trustee Scholarship or Alcala Scholarship are invited to apply to the program. Those who receive these scholarships are the top ten percent of the accepted incoming class.

Hope this helps!

Have all invitations to the honors program/merit money been sent out yet?

By far, the Honors Program at the University of San Diego is spectacular. You can be surrounded by incredibly smart and intelligent people while having the resources and connections of the greater campus, also. People at USD have so many connections offering a wealth of diversity, with emphasis on the wealth
